Beijing (CNS) ?C Beijing Normal University, which has hired Nobel laureate Mo Yan as a literature professor, held a welcoming ceremony for the author on Tuesday.

Mo was granted a master's degree in literature and arts from the university in 1991.

Speaking at the ceremony, where he was issued an employment certificate, Mo recalled his poor performance at the college. He said he was "ashamed" because he hadn't studied hard, and that his graduation was due to generous grading by professors.

He also expressed worry about his eloquence as a public speaker.
