After 5 days hot bidding, the transaction value at the China Guardian 2011 Autumn Auctions in Beijing totaled 3.858 billion yuan ($607.7m), covering Chinese painting and calligraphy, porcelain, furniture and works of art, Chinese oil painting and sculpture, rare books and manuscripts, fine jewelry and jadeite, and important watches. A set of landscape paintings by great master Qi Baishi (1862-1957) went the hammer for 194 million yuan ($30.6m), and an artwork by Wang Hui (1632-1717) changed hands for 126.5 million yuan ($20m), creating a new record for Wang's works, at the highly publicized auction - "Visual Feast: Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy".[CNS Photo/Yang Kejia]
