A large group of migratory birds have been spotted recently across China.

A flock of migratory mandarin ducks were spotted on Wednesday in a reservoir in Weihai City, east China's Shandong Province. They were seen flying into the region to stop, perch, and forage in the reservoir, forming a beautiful winter scene.

The arrival of mandarin ducks in this region indicates that Weihai City's efforts to improve its ecological environment have paid off. The city has become a wintering habitat for various migratory birds.

With their distinctive orange-brown feathers, hundreds of ruddy shelducks have been captured frolicking and flying over a reservoir in Alxa League, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. They were foraging and playing on the ice.

The duck species is a third-class protected animal in China. They mainly feed on fish, shrimp and small plants.

In southwest China's Yunnan Province, a rare copper pheasant has been captured at a lake in Yingjiang County. It is under second-class protection in China.
