Beijing (CNS) -- Beijing Energy Investment Holding Co Ltd will bring green energy to a number of Beijing schools by installing a solar photovoltaic power grid on the rooftops of buildings, a company spokesman said on Saturday.

Falling under the Ministry of Finance's energy conservation and emission reduction pilot program, the move will help reduce the electronic load for over 1,000 schools in Beijing, according to Mei Dongsheng, a director at the company.

Since the beginning of this year, Beijing Energy Investment Holding Co Ltd has invested 250 million yuan (US$40.8 million) in the research and development of 25 scientific and technological projects, Mei added.

Established in 2004, Beijing Energy Investment Holding Co Ltd is a large state-owned investment enterprise owned by the municipal government of Beijing.
