(ECNS) -- Beijing will unveil its own taxi hailing service via smartphone by the end of this month, the city transport commission said.
The commission said the app will be integrated with the phone call service 96106, which was launched last Saturday, and distribute orders among the city's five dispatch centers.
The commission will register existing taxi hailing apps for better supervision and regulation. Li Xiaosong, spokesman for the commission, said taxi hailing apps available now, including Didi Dache and Yaoyao Zhaoche, may be integrated into the unified platform for taxi booking services, under the condition that no premium be allowed.
Insiders at the commission also admitted that the easiest way is to integrate existing apps into the new system.
Cheng Wei, CEO of Didi Dache, a taxi e-hailing app, said in an earlier interview that mobile apps with advanced technology can raise the level of automotive control in sending taxis out better than a phone call service.
Cheng said taxi booking apps will provide better services after it reaches an agreement with official dispatch centers.
