Beijing (CNS) -- China will put more efforts into developing operating systems and smart voice techniques for smart phones in the next three to five years, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Chen Wei, director of the Software Service Department under MIIT, said at the 17th China International Software Expo that China will work harder to make breakthroughs in mobile phone operating systems to build its own industrial system.

Software related to cloud computing has increased by 118 percent in the past year, a sign of a bright future for the country's software sector, Chen said.

The race to achieve the best smartphone operating system continues, as Apple's IOS, Google's Android and Microsoft's WP are all competing for consumers, he added.
