Changsha (ECNS) -- Altogether 100 pieces of Hunan embroidery and Liling porcelain will be on display and auctioned in Hong Kong, the local publicity department said on Tuesday.
Jiang Zuxuan, head of the department, said the pieces of artwork are valued at 25 million to 36 million yuan ($4 million to $5.8 million).
Among the porcelain, a set of "Chairman Mao" porcelain, made exclusively for Chairman Mao in 1974, is the most precious, Jiang said. It is valued at 8 million to 10 million yuan. The set, which includes five under-glaze color bows, featuring five different flowers, is an example of the highest level of porcelain manufacture in China, he added.
Hunan embroidery, or Xiang embroidery, is one of the top four traditional embroideries in China. One piece of embroidery designed by the 55th grandson of Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Jin Dynasty (AD 265 ?C AD420), was also included, Jiang said.
Embroidery work will also be demonstrated during the exhibit, and visitors who are interested can experience the needlework, Jiang said.
The artwork will be on display at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong from June 19 to 20, and then be auctioned at Renaissance Harbor View Hotel on June 20.
