Beijing (CNS) -- Beijing will set up a unified taxi hailing platform for different taxi companies, according to a regulation released by the city's transport commission on Wednesday.

The platform will offer commuters a way to make reservations through telephone, Internet and mobile phone apps, the regulation said.

It will allow riders to hail available taxis nearby in six suburban districts during the day and in the central area inside the city's Fourth Ring at night.

Each taxi driver should pick up at least two riders through the platform every day, according to the regulation.

As for commuters who make a reservation and fail to cancel it beforehand, they will be put on a black list for one year after it happens twice, the regulation said.

Taxi companies, drivers, and dispatchers will be punished severely if they violate the regulations, it added.
