Beijing (CNS) -- Beijing will launch a campaign to control non-licensed tour guides, vendors and taxis around six famous tourist spots, the city's tourism commission said on Tuesday.

Lu Yong, the head of the commission, said the city will work to improve overall tourist services, including transportation, facilities and shopping around Imperial Palace, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Ming Dynasty Tombs, Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall.

Non-licensed tour guides, vendors and taxis, along with scalpers and unhygienic restaurants around tourist spots, have been at the top of complaints lists, he said.

Lu said the city will promote group reservations and ban tour guides from using loudspeakers at Imperial Palace.

Vendors following tourists and offering kickbacks to tour guides will be severely punished, he added.

The city set a 10-percent growth target for local tourism in 2013.
