Zhengzhou (CNS) -- The bustling scene outside China's schools at the start and end of each day, called "Chinese-style drop-off and pick-up from school," has aroused debate online after the phenomenon of "Chinese-style street crossings."

In Zhengzhou, noisy crowds gather at the gates as parents or grandparents arrive in vehicles of all shapes and sizes, making it resemble a bustling market and paralyzing the flow of traffic.

A grandparent, surnamed Li, said he wouldn't feel secure if he didn't accompany his fifth-grade grandson to and from school.

Yang Hua, a parent, said, "I wish the children can go home by themselves and be happy, as we used to before, but many drivers don't obey traffic rules."

Another father, Fan Chen, has a daughter in high school. He has been doing daily school runs for 10 years.

As usual, Chinese Internet users have not held back in expressing their opinions on the subject. One named "Chinese Education Research" said the real problem lies in Chinese-style over-parenting.
