Beijing (CNS) -- The crew of China's first aircraft carrier the "Liaoning" are the "cream of the crop," and have been selected from the "best of the best" in the PLA Navy, according to the vessel's political commissar.
Commissar Mei Wen said in an interview that most of the crew have been granted honorary naval titles, and that all of them are outstanding, talented and ambitious.
"There are so many outstanding captains in the Chinese Navy, I once wondered if I could be so lucky to get the opportunity," said Zhang Zheng, now the captain of the "Liaoning".
