Tianjin(CNS) -- SMBC Consumer Finance, a consumer loan unit under Japan' s Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc., opened a subsidiary branch in Tianjin on Thursday.

This is the company's third foothold in China.

"We have been impressed by the leapfrog development of China, and we view China as a promising market, so we will expand our presence here by providing services that are more consumer-friendly," said Ryoji Yukino, president of SMBC Consumer Finance, at the opening ceremony.

The company is planning to set up 10 branches in Tianjin within three years to meet the financing demands of local clients.

Founded in 1962, SMBC Consumer Finance has been committed to providing unsecured loans to individuals. The lending can be used for investment, home decoration, vehicle purchases, travel and even shopping.

The company already has branches in Shenyang and Shenzhen.
