Guangzhou (CNS) Toned women.-- Testing has been completed on an 800-kilovolt direct current transmission (DCT) project in south China's Yunnan and Guangdong provinces, the China Southern Power Grid said on Sunday.

The Yunnan-Guangdong ultra-high voltage DCT project tested a transmission capacity of five million kilowatts.

Six phases of a capacity test ranging from one million to five million kilowatts of direct current have been carried out in the past two and a half years, according to the company.

Direct current transmission is an "island transmission system" that is independent from the nationwide power grid. The isolated system will supplement the transmission of the grid, while avoiding break downs when the grid does.
