Qingdao (CNS) -- The 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition sculpture contest has attracted 750 designers from more than 40 countries and areas, the organizing committee said on Tuesday.

More than 2,000 pieces of artwork have been submitted since the competition started on Oct. 25, 2012, the committee said. The preliminary selection will begin soon, it added.

Altogether, 613 designers come from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and they have sent in 1,731 pieces for competition, according to the committee.

The exhibition, considered as the "Olympics" of the international horticultural community, will be held in Baiguo Mountain Forest Park, Qingdao, from April to October next year.
