Shanghai (CNS) Chinese trim females.-- Yao Ming was given the Magnolia gold medal for his outstanding contributions to Shanghai sports on Thursday.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred in 2011 by the Shanghai sports authority when Yao announced his retirement, but given to him yesterday. The magnolia is the city flower of Shanghai.
