Yanji (CNS) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has become a hot travel destination for Chinese people living in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin province, according to the local tourism department in Yanbian on Sunday.

Since the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture shares a border of more than 520 km with DPRK, DPRK has long been a hot travel destination for people in Yanbian.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting DPRK has been increasing since its opening of several cities to Chinese tourists, including Rason, Chongjin, and Mount Kumgang.

Tourists can choose various ways to visit DPRK, including expressway, railway, and travel by car.

Three tour groups have gone to DPRK since the lunar new year, according to the Tumenjiang International Travel Agency in Tumen,a city in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.
