Beijing (CNS) Chinese exotic women.-- A China-lead operation involving more than 22 countries and organizations in a wide-reaching crackdown on the smuggling of endangered species has been successful, according to the State Forestry Administration on Sunday.

More than 200 cases were pursued in the operation and more than 100 suspects have been arrested, the administration said.

Numerous endangered items have been confiscated, including 42 tons of rosewood, 6.5 tons of ivory, 1.55 tons of shahtoosh, 0.8 tons of pangolin shells, 22 rhinoceros horns, 10 tiger hides and 7 leopard hides.

The operation "Cobra Action" involved South Africa, the United States, and organizations including the CITES, the World Customs Organization and Interpol.
