Haikou (ECNS) ?C Haikou's Fourth Lantern Festival Fireworks Show, which was scheduled for Feb. 24, has been canceled, according to local authorities on Sunday.

This year's show was canceled in response to the central government's anti-waste campaign and to avoid harm to environmental quality, the authorities said.

In a recent survey on whether to hold the fireworks show, about 68.7 percent of interviewees agreed to cancel it.
