Zhangjiakou (ECNS) ?C Hebei's Zhangjiakou city announced Saturday that it will invest 8.42 billion yuan this year to help at least 400,000 residents out of poverty.

The city's plans include an investment of 3.8 billion yuan in local agricultural, the implementation of 1,348 infrastructure projects and an exported labor program that would benefit hundreds of thousands of workers.

A key national poverty-stricken area, Zhangjiakou reportedly helped over 300,000 of its citizens defeat poverty in 2012 through a series of farmer-friendly measures and policies.
