Beijing (CNS) -- Nearly 35.5 million passengers are expected to travel by air during the 2013 Spring Festival travel rush, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to last year, according to civil aviation authorities on Saturday.
Inbound and outbound passengers at the Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) are predicted to reach about 8.8 million during this year's rush. That's a daily average of 220,000 passengers, an increase of 4.86 percent compared to the same period last year, said Wang Hanlin, who works for the airport.
January 26, the first day of the rush, saw more than 9,880 flights and over 830,000 passengers across the country.
The BCIA transported about 230,000 passengers Saturday, an increase of 10,000 people compared to normal days.
