Guangzhou (CNS) -- Experts gathered Tuesday at a forum in Guangzhou and expressed their opinions about the state of ink wash painting, a principle style of art in China.

Ink wash paintings ?C the embodiment of Chinese culture ?C have stepped out of the art circle and won more appreciation abroad, which will help publicize Chinese culture globally, said Yin Shuangxi, a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and vice chief editor of Art Research magazine.

Pi Daojian, a professor at South China Normal University, said ink wash paintings have been attracting much interest and that the artform has a bright future.

Liu Xiaochun, chief editor of an influential art newspaper, said ink wash paintings have become the darling of the art auction market, which is strong evidence of their increasing popularity.

Some ink wash painting have been auctioned for more than one million yuan.
