Beijing (CNS) -- A new nationwide train operation chart will be implemented starting at midnight on December 21, according to China's Ministry of Railways (MOR) on Thursday.

The chart is designed to expand transport capacity and improve service in light of the new railway lines and stations that have gone into operation, according to MOR officials.

A total of 15 trains will be added, including high-speed trains from Shanghai to Xi'an and from Beijing to Jinan.

Several adjustments to train operations have also been made to meet passenger needs, the ministry said.

It is the second time for the MOR to launch a new chart since July 1 this year.
