Shaoguan (CNS) -- The Shaoguan section of the Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Expressway was gridlocked Tuesday because of heavy fog and repair work.

Closure of the Yunyan to Dongtian sections of the expressway combined with the lingering fog led to traffic being backed up for more than 10 kilometers. Visibility was only 20 meters in some sections.

The highway repair work, which began Monday, ended at 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the local traffic authority.
