Zhuhai (CNS) -- AVIC General Aircraft Corporation and Honeywell Aerospace Group signed a memorandum of cooperation on Thursday, vowing to train engineers to become private pilots.

Pilot courses will start in the first quarter of 2013, which will include ground theory and 60 hours of solo flight training.

The SR20 light aircraft from Cirrus Designs will be used for the training. Qualified engineers who pass the course will obtain a private pilot's certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

We aim to help engineers understand how a pilot handles avionics from personal experience so they will be able to design more efficient, reliable, and secure avionic products, said Briand Greer, president of Honeywell Aerospace Asia-Pacific.
