Beijing (CNS) -- The Military Band of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the visiting United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" held a joint concert Monday at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

It was the China debut of the U.S. military band and a reciprocal visit to its Chinese counterpart, which traveled to the U.S. in May 2011. There will be another two joint performances by both bands in Nanjing and Shanghai.

The bands played both of their national anthems and co-performed traditional music from either country, including "Cowboy" and "Chao Tian Que."

Such cultural exchanges and cooperation enhance our mutual trust and strengthen the building of bilateral military relations, Qian Lihua, director of the Foreign Affairs Office at the National Defense Ministry, said at a reception prior to the concert.
