Chengdu (CNS) ?? A total of 16 candidates from all over the world will compete for three positions as panda ambassadors, or Pambassadors, according to the program's organizer on Sunday.

The program "Panda Quest -- Be the Next Chengdu Pambassador," which attracted over 1 million participants, aims to raise global awareness of the animals.

The candidates will gather in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, at the end of this month to compete for the "Cutest job in the world."

Zhang Qianlan, a student from the Shanghai Theater Academy, got to the top position in the semifinals of the mainland division wearing a panda costume and eating a kilogram of boiled bamboo shoots.

Candidates from other divisions all expressed a strong passion for panda conservation. An Italian student is participating in the campaign for a second time, while a Singaporean college student said he was willing to leave school for a year to engage in the program.
