Beijing (CNS) ?C?C Britain does not identify with protectionism and welcomes Huawei's investment, British Ambassador to China Sebastian Wood said during a speech Monday at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Sebastian denied that Britain would follow the U.S. and place restrictions on the ICT giant based on national security, saying that protectionism is unfavorable for the global economy.
Mutual opening-up is the best way to enhance mutual trust and promote prosperity, Sebastian said. Britain is open to foreign enterprises including Chinese firms to invest, which will benefit its economy, he added.
He also referred to the meeting between Britain Prime Minister David Cameron and Huawei's CEO Ren Zhengfei, as well as Huawei's 1.3 billion pounds investment which would create 500 jobs in Britain.
The British public will settle disputes with open minds, he said.
