Beijing (CNS) ?C?C Restoration of the Grand Theater Building in Dehe Yuan (Garden of Virtue and Harmony) was completed on Sunday.
Situated in the Summer Palace, it was the biggest of the three main theaters in operation during the Qing Dynasty, and comprises a three-story stage and a two-story building for dressing rooms and makeup.
Construction of Dehe Yuan began in the 17th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign (1891), after which it witnessed the summit of Peking Opera.
This restoration of Dehe Yuan started on October 10 and will be completed by the end of November. Its last restoration was in 1955.
