Taipei (CNS) -- For the coming eight-day holiday, 31,435 visitors have received entry permits to Taiwan, an increase of more than 10,000 over the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from the Taiwan tourism bureau.
October 1 will see the biggest number at 8,730 visitors, the statistics show.
More direct flights and new permit application policies make it more convenient for mainlanders to visit Taiwan, an official from the tourism bureau said.
The bureau has also issued regulations to ease the burden on tour bus drivers and ensure visitor safety, and routine examinations will also be strengthened, he added.
This year's Mid-Autumn/National Day holiday runs from September 30 to October 7, with hundreds of millions of Chinese people expected to travel home or overseas.
