Nanning (CNS) -- The Ninth China-ASEAN Expo closed Tuesday in Nanning City of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, recording a trade turnover of US$1.78 billion, up 3.9 percent over the last session.

The expo has strongly boosted the economic development of China and ASEAN member countries, said Myanmar President Wu Dengsheng, who added that free trade with a population of 1.9 billion is becoming increasingly more important in the global economy.

The expo also attracted buyers from France, Canada, the U.S., Australia, Russia, South Korea, India, Sweden, Denmark and others.

According to statistics, China and ASEAN saw a growth of 7.7 percent in bilateral trade volume in the first eight months of this year.
