Taiyuan (CNS) -- The Fourth China (Taiyuan) International Energy Industry Expo opened on Sunday in Taiyuan, capital of coal-rich Shanxi Province, to discuss the country's energy resources.
China's coalbed gas is expected to exceed 90 billion cubic meters by 2030, which is equal to 100 million tons of raw coal production, or 1.5 times the generation capacity of the Three Gorges Dam, Yuan Liang, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the expo.
The total amount of proven coal reserves in China has reached 5.57 trillion tons, while proven coalbed gas amounts to 36.8 trillion tons, said Yuan.
As gas control and coalbed gas exploitation are worldwide problems, there would be great progress if the government increased subsidies and provided more policy support, he said.
