Beijing (CNS) ?C China's new lending in August rose to 703.9 billion yuan, an increase of 155.5 billion yuan from a year earlier, according to figures released Tuesday by China's central bank.

The number beat forecasts from financial organizations at home and abroad and has been called a "positive signal" by insiders.
