Haikou (CNS) ?C Increased direct flights between Hainan and Taiwan have helped boost tourism in Hainan, the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hainan Province said Thursday.

The island province's tourist market slowed from January to July this year, yet tourists from Taiwan increased by 97.73 percent to 87,000, according to a report from the Hainan NPC Financial and Economic Committee.

Passengers have been able to travel directly between Taiwan and Sanya or Taiwan and Haikou every day since September last year.
