Zhuhai (CNS) -- Guangdong Party Secretary Wang Yang on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, saying it should be completed with a high level of efficiency and quality.

Wang said the bridge is a major project to revitalize the economy of the Pearl River Delta that will turn Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong Province into a comprehensive metropolitan ring.

The project consists of a series of bridges and tunnels that will connect Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai, three major cities in the delta. It will have a total length of nearly 50 km, of which about 35 km will be built over the sea. Construction was started in December 2009 and is scheduled for completion in 2016.
