Beijing (CNS) ?C The Imperial Palace will be one of the top five museums in the world, along with the British Museum, the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Hermitage Museum, Shan Jixiang, director of the Imperial Palace, told CNS Monday.

Collections in European and American museums come from all over the world, while 80 percent of the collections at the Imperial Palace are passed down from the Qin Dynasty, Shan said, adding that the architecture of the Imperial Palace is the canonical representative of eastern architecture.

The Imperial Palace received more than 14 million visitors in 2011.
