Beijing (CNS) ?C A government run low-income housing project has seen a dramatic breakthrough in recent years, Gao Peiyong, head of the Finance and Trade Economics Institute under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said today.
Citing statistics from 2008 to 2012, Gao said the project had resulted in the building or renovation of 30 million low-income houses. More than 26 million families moved into new houses and the living standards of almost 100 million people were changed, he added.
"Before, I always worried about leakage on rainy days, but I don't worry about anything in my new house," said Pan Yulin, who moved into a low-income house a few months ago.
