Changsha (CNS) -- The China-made C919 large passenger airliner will take its first test flight in 2014 and be on the market by 2016, Jin Zhuanglong, president of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), said Wednesday.

There are now a total of 280 orders for the planes, Jin said, speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony for a joint venture between Honeywell Aerospace and Boyun New Materials Company of Hunan.

The joint venture will act as the producer and exclusive supplier of landing wheels and brake systems for the C919, Jin added.
