Zhanjiang (CNS) -- The Second China Mooncake Festival will be held in Wuchuan, a county of south China's Guangdong province, from August 5 to August 7.
The mooncake recipes of Wuchuan are the products of a distinctive local culture and famous for a special flavor that makes them popular in Southeast Asia and Chinese communities all over the world.
Wuchuan people make their mooncakes in a special way passed down from the Southern Song Dynasty where they originated more than 900 years ago.
A chin-shih called Wu Yi developed what has become the Wuchuan-style mooncake from the victory celebration food given by the emperor. The special fillings and process have been unceasingly enriched since then, earning Wuchuan the title "Land of Mooncake" in 2010.
