Sansha (CNS) -- A fleet of 30 fishing vessels from Hainan Province arrived in waters off the Fiery Cross Reef in the South China Sea on the afternoon of July 15, after a 78-hour sail. A reporter from CNS was on board taking a close look at the leading vessel F8168.
The F8168 was built last year and put into operation this February, said captain Lin Mouying, and it still ranks as a junior 3,000-ton supply ship, but Lin is a senior who has been pacing the decks for over 44 years.
The vessel, with 60 beds and five floors, has three operating systems - automatic, manual and hydrodynamic - to manage its 83-meter long, 13.8-meter wide girth.
Security is our first concern, said pilot Lin Mouyan.
