Hong Kong (CNS) -- Hong Kong's increasing participation in East Asian economic cooperation is yielding fruit for all countries in the region, said Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Commerce, at the Hong Kong Summit held on Wednesday.

Ministerial officials of the MOC, Hong Kong SAR and other parts of East Asia exchanged views on behalf of their country's governments on the "Regional Cooperation between Hong Kong and East Asia" topic.

Beijing has been encouraging Hong Kong to participate in more multilateral and regional economic activities in the China-ASEAN free trade zone for a long time, taking into consideration Hong Kong's interest in future regional negotiations and the appeal of its global experience, said Gao in his address on the occasion.

Hong Kong won't affect other East Asian markets with its local products, and can answer to their appeal to further widen its market threshold and assist them in fundraising, said Gao.

Heavier participation from Hong Kong will benefit all actors in the region, including the ASEAN members, Japan, and Korea, remarked Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.
