Guiyang (CNS) -- The 2012 International Parachuting Challenge at China?Anshun Baling River Bridge will be held from July 19 to 23, with 30 first-rate low-altitude skydiving contestants from 15 countries including the US, Canada and Germany, it was announced at the contest organizer party on Thursday.

Bridge parachuting is a typical low altitude jump, and the parachute is deployed immediately, leaving five seconds for their pack to open.

The skydivers competing in this round have gone through over one thousand dives from a low attitude.

The Baling River Bridge is a suspension bridge in Anshun City, Guizhou Province. It spans the Baling River Valley and opened to public traffic on December 23, 2009. The suspension span is 1,088 m (3,570 ft), and the bridge has a total length of 2,237 m (7,339 ft). It is also one of the world's highest bridges with 375 m (1,230 ft) clearance above the river.
