Hong Kong (CNS) -- Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) set new records for both revenue and profit during the fiscal year ending on March 31, the Airport Authority said Wednesday.
The airport's revenue hit 12.15 billion Hong Kong dollars, up 14.8 percent, the authority said. Profits reached 5.34 billion Hong Kong dollars, an increase of 32.3 percent, while passenger volume grew by 6.6 percent to 54.9 million.
The airport not only remains the busiest cargo airport globally for the second year, but also ranks among the top 10 aviation hubs in terms of passenger capacity, said the authority's chief executive Stanley Hui.
"Although the sluggish global economic growth and the eurozone crisis continue to cast an uncertain shadow over the global economy, we are confident in the HKIA's long-term air traffic demand," added Hui.
