Bangkok (CNS) -- Princess Sirinthorn of Thailand personally presented Xu Lin, Director of the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), a Doctor of Literature degree granted by the highly reputable Chulalongkorn University of Thailand.
The award ceremony took place on June 24 and honored Xu Lin for the brilliant work she has done promoting Chinese education and culture in Thailand.
Xu expressed her appreciation for the princess making a personal appearance to hand over the award, noting this expressed the profundity of the Sino-Thai friendship.
Chulalongkorn University is the oldest university under the Thai modern educational system, founded in 1917 by King Vajiravudh who named it after his father, King Chulalongkorn.
Regarded as the best university in Thailand, Chulalongkorn attracts top students from around the country, and Princess Sirinthorn is herself a university alumnus.
