Beijing (CNS) -- Bank of China (BOC) confirmed on Wednesday that the Taiwan financial authority had issued a business license for a BOC branch to be set up in Taipei.

Issued on June 11, it is the first license issued by Taiwan to a mainland bank. BOC's plan for the Taipei branch passed mainland review on December 22 last year.

BOC says the branch will focus on covering deposits, loans, discounted notes, commercial bill acceptance, credit letter issuance, investment bonds and guarantees for corporate bonds.
