Beijing (CNS) -- CFM International has received an order for 235 jet engines from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), said CFM President Jean-Paul Ebanga on Wednesday.
Ebanga said they will strictly follow buyer requirements and develop LEAP-1C engines custom-made for China's domestic C919 passenger jets.
The LEAP-1C project was initiated in 2009 and the contract was signed in June 2011, said Ebanga. The C919 is expected to go into operation in 2016.
The global market will need 34,000 single-aisle aircraft in the next two decades, so China's C919, a type of single-aisle craft, will have promising market prospects, Ebanga added.
