China increases US debt holdings to $1.317 trillion

China's holdings of US Treasuries increased $12.2 billion to a record $1.317 trillion in November 2013, remaining the largest foreign creditor, data from US Department of the Treasury showed Thursday.

Japan's holdings of US securities rose to $1.186 trillion in November, up $12 billion from a month earlier, the data showed.

China's foreign exchange reserves reached $3.82 trillion by the end of December, according to data released by the People's Bank of China on Wednesday.
