Chinese shares close lower on Wednesday

Chinese shares extended losses from the previous trading day on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.41 percent, or 9.02 points, to finish at 2,198.51.

The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.59 percent, or 51.09 points, to finish at 8,613.71.
