Chinese shares close higher Wednesday

Chinese shares closed higher on Wednesday, as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.19 percent, or 3.74 points, to end at 1,993.80.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.46 percent, or 35.23 points, to 7,765.40.
