China's mobile phone output at 1.18b

Mobile phone output in China hit 1.18 billion units last year, up 4.3 percent over the previous year and accounting for more than half of global output, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said Wednesday.

The sales value of the electronics manufacturing industry was 8.5 trillion yuan ($1.36 trillion), a year-on-year growth of 12.6 percent. Currently 74.5 percent of netizens access the Internet via mobile phone, up 5.1 percentage points from the previous year.
