During the spring auction by Poly Auction Co. in 2010, the painting "Autumn Mountain and Deserted Temple" by ancient Chinese painter Wang Meng (1308 to 1385) was sold for 136 million yuan (US$21.43 million).
The painting had been shown in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York before the auction in China. Its starting price was 28 million yuan (US$4.41 million).
Wang Meng was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, and is considered one of the four great masters of the Yuan Dynasty.
